Multitasking: Good or Not?

Does this seem like you??

In one of my previous posts, I had emphasized upon the benefits of Multi-Tasking: Create Time For Yourself Every Day

Today however, I am going to tell you how, if not used properly, multi-tasking can spell doom.
If you had read my earlier post, you would remember I had recommended doing tasks which DO NOT require a lot of concentration as your 'Multi-Tasks'.

Its quite obvious that when you do more than one task at a time, you concentration powers and abilities get bifurcated between the two tasks. You do each task with just half of your normal concentration. Thus, it is very important to choose these tasks intelligently.

Multi-task only when the task at hand is simple and not a critical one for you.
You should not be working on an important presentation while watching the news on TV. You should also not try to study a difficult chapter while watching TV or talking on the phone. There is nothing to be gained by doing something so ineffectively that you know you will have to do it again. Better to do it only once when you are at peace with your surroundings, without anything to distract you.

How do you know how much concentration does a task require?
Quite simple, really. Just try multi-tasking. If you find yourself unable to concentrate or fumbling with your work, leave it, finish one task and then move on to the other.

So go on, multi-task but remember some important things in life require all the attention you can give it.
